Miami’s Community News endorses Shannon Del Prado for Pinecrest Village Council
Shannon Del Prado

Shannon Del Prado has demonstrated her concern for the Village of Pinecrest’s residents and their priorities. We feel she deserves re-election to Seat 3 of the Pinecrest Village Council.

She knocked on more than 5000 doors in 2020 and was elected that year. In her immediate search for finding solutions to problems faced by Pinecrest residents, she advocated seeking funding sources for the potable water problem. Working together as a community, that problem was solved. She was sworn in as Vice Mayor in 2024.

A Pinecrest resident for 20 years, she has been married to Skip Pita for 29 years and they have raised three children in Pinecrest Schools.

She served as Vice President and Treasurer of the Palmetto High PTSA and continues to volunteer at the High School. She was a Board Member of the Palmetto Elementary ACT Committee to raise funds for teaching aides and was Co-Chair of the Palmetto Elementary Science Task Force, raising funds for teachers.

Shannon served as a Girl Scout Troop Leader (Troop #513) and was Vice President of the Palmetto High Lacrosse Booster Club in 2019, where she organized and raised funds for the team.

She spent three years with the US Dept. of Justice on Police Force Professionalization and is a lawyer and founding partner of the firm Pita◦Weber◦Del Prado Trial Attorneys. She has served as the President of the Miami Dade Trial Lawyers Association. She has been endorsed by the South Florida Police Benevolent Association.

Shannon has been a volunteer with the Chapman Partnership for the Homeless and has organized nine South Florida surgical teams to Peru. She received the Art Garcia Award for Public Service in 2013.

She has stated that she believes in community safety, government focused on serving the residents, working on building community and quality of life. She vows to fight for responsible use of taxes, for the environment, and for development that is consistent with the Village of Pinecrest’s unique character and tradition.

She had clearly demonstrated her proven ability and her desire to work hard for the residents of Pinecrest.

For all these reasons and more, we endorse Shannon Del Prado and urge you to support her for re-election to Seat 3 Councilmember.
