Starting at $40,000, the 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz XRT AWD looks like a sports car married to a pickup truck.
For those who don’t know, the XRT branding is attached to vehicles that are built for those seeking an SUV that’s bolder, setting itself apart with distinctive design and a high standard for detail.
The Santa Cruz XRT is part of our line of rugged, special edition, adventure-seeking SUVs that feature design upgrades like bigger tires, raised suspensions, and available HTRAC All Wheel Drive (AWD). Part SUV, part open-bed truck, the ready-for-anything Santa Cruz XRT adds to its sophisticated nature with upgrades like XRT-specific wide fender cladding, dark front and rear lower fascias, front grille, bed rails, and more.
I like the XRT-specific front dark grille and the front lights, which are sleek and modern, flaring out for a wider reach. The 18-inch, 6-point pinwheel XRT alloy rims look very stylish and are in keeping with the overall athletic feel of the vehicle.
The 2024 Santa Cruz XRT has XRT-specific skid plates plus great looking side steps that give this SUV lots of character.
The bed has special tie downs and underbed storage that allows for better organization of the stuff you are driving around. It has the power of a pickup, too, with the capability of towing 5,000 pounds. Getting behind the wheel and driving around the neighborhood, it feels like you can tow a mountain.
Its performance is strong: the 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz XRT AWD delivers 26 miles per gallon on the highway and 18 miles per gallon in the city, for a combined 21 miles per gallon. This performance is produced by a 281-horsepower 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, with all wheel drive coming as standard. There are also paddle shifters on the steering column, which makes managing your road trip experience a breeze.
The cabin experience is about being in a car not a pickup truck, with seats that have the comfort you have come to expect from Hyundai.
On the inside, the digital screens are crisp and clear, placed to make reading them as easy as possible. The metrics including speed are presented in large clear displays that make following key data easy and comfortable. The infotainment screen can be as wide as 12.3-inches and includes navigation.
As for safety, you get the works in the 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz XRT, with a variety of features including lane centering assist, blind spot monitoring, forward automatic emergency braking and rear cross traffic alert.
I really enjoyed driving the 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz XRT and I think you will, too. Give it a spin and tell me what you think.
