This December, Downtown Doral will offer a journey from tropical Florida into the vibrant world of the Nutcracker. Tickets are on sale now for The World of Nutcracker, a one-of-a-kind, immersive holiday experience.
During the approximately 45-minute experience, visitors will experience iconic scenes and retellings of The Nutcracker story, through live stage performance, animation projection and succulent sweets and desserts. Along their journey they will experience interpretations of Marie’s dream and the battle between the Nutcracker Prince and the Mouse King, meet the grand toymaker, Drosselmeier, and venture into The Nutcracker Emporium—where they will peruse a global market of desserts and delights—and finally make their journey to Drosselmeier’s Workshop.
Guests will journey into the world of the experience on a timed-entry basis, creating a more intimate experience that allows each visitor to feel like part of the story while avoiding large crowds.
“The World of Nutcracker is a truly unique experience that beautifully blends the magic of the holiday season with Miami’s rich and artistic culture,” said Ana-Marie Codina Barlick, CEO of Codina Partners, the developers of Downtown Doral. “This event underscores our commitment at Downtown Doral to creating art-inspired, interactive, and family-friendly experiences so visitors and residents can create cherished memories that will last a lifetime.”
At the end of the captivating experience, guests will step into Drosselmeier’s Workshop, where the young and young-at-heart can purchase and customize their own versions of the iconic Nutcracker miniature. In addition to Nutcracker-themed crafts, guests will be able to purchase delicious hot cocoa and refreshments, and photos with Santa. A program of holiday food and beverage specials are being planned with Downtown Doral’s anchor restaurants that will be available throughout the run of the experience.
To create the experience, the Downtown Doral Arts and Culture Foundation collaborated with esteemed creative professionals that practice set, lighting, video, sound and prop design on Broadway and within the broader world of theater. World of Nutcracker is directed by Brett Smock, the Producing Artistic Director at The REV Theatre Company in New York.
