SEE | The Main House will be decorated for the season as might have been done 100 years ago, including garland strung from the balconies and inside the Courtyard. The Dining Room table set for entertaining. And an old-timey Christmas tree decorated in the East Loggia.
INTEND | Witness the creation of a Sacred Sand Mandala, a profound Tibetan Buddhist practice. Representing Green Tara, the deity of compassion, this intricate mandala takes 4-6 days to complete. Once finished, it is consecrated, then its sand is swept up and offered to flowing water to bless and purify the environment.
MAKE | Storytelling through Beadwork with Briana Chrispin. This indigenous ceremonial art translates the whispers of body and spirit into form using beads made of shells, seeds, stone, and wood. Each piece strung together represents a collective story.
LEARN | You’ll have the opportunity to learn more about the history of the estate and explore the illuminated formal gardens.
CRAFT | Drop in to the Vizcaya artmaking station and take part in a winter tradition that dates back to the Middle Ages. A Vizcaya educator will give you all the materials and instruction for making a citrus pomander that you can take home to add a cheerful aroma to your winter traditions.
WATCH | Artists from Brevo Theater perform excerpts from Black Nativity, Langston Hughes’ African-American retelling of the Nativity story, featuring Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem in African costumes and a vibrant repertoire of spirituals.
