The Palace Group, South Florida’s largest family-owned senior living operator, has been honored as the No.1 Best Large Workplace in Aging Services by Fortune for 2024, marking its second consecutive year at the top. This prestigious recognition solidifies The Palace Group’s position as one of the best companies to work for in the country.
The award is based on an analysis of survey responses from over 181,000 employees in the aging services industry. Nearly 100 percent of The Palace Group’s 1,600-plus employees rated the company as a great workplace, surpassing the national average for U.S. companies.
The Palace Group’s president and founder, Helen Shaham, and her husband, Jacob, expressed pride in the team’s commitment and dedication to residents and each other.
“This award reaffirms the positive culture we’ve cultivated across all our communities, including The Palace at Home Health Care, our pharmacy services, and The Palace Rehabilitation and Nursing,” Shaham stated. “Our success stems from our unwavering focus on both employee satisfaction and exceptional resident care.”
Employees, both full-time and part-time, and from all levels, participated in the survey.
They were surveyed on the workplace environment, which included trust in management, loyalty, accessibility of leaders, whether they feel respected and whether they are proud of their work. The Fortune Best Workplaces in Aging Services list is highly competitive, with Great Place to Work selecting winners based on rigorous analytics and confidential employee feedback.
The Palace Group’s commitment to employee development, work-life balance and innovative programs has contributed to its repeated success. The company offers comprehensive benefits, ongoing training opportunities, and a supportive work environment that fosters personal and professional growth.
“The family atmosphere was the No.1 reason employees cited when asked about The Palace,” said Andrea Rodriguez, vice president of human resources. “They praised the accessibility of the owners and said that they felt safe and protected.”
The Palace Group advocates promoting from within and this contributes to a high level of employee retention. All executive directors, for example, have been promoted from within the organization, with some joining The Palace Group initially as community receptionists and customer service specialists.
A program called “CAP” assists team members to grow professionally, and Paltec, the company’s training program, teaches the company’s mission and provides job training skills and mentoring.
While employees’ tenure ranges, all of The Palace department managers have been with the company for over 10 years. The longest-tenured employee has worked at The Palace for 42 years, and 80 team members have served with the company for over 20 years.
The Palace Group’s award-winning services include independent and assisted living, memory care, nursing and rehabilitation, home health, and pharmacy services. With more than 1,600 team members, the company has been a cornerstone in senior care since its founding in 1980.
