A small charitable organization in Cutler Bay works to assist small businesses and others in the area. The non-profit part of the organization helps not only small-scale businesses but also low-income individuals and even some who are homeless.
“I have a business called I Promise University,” said Erika Render. “I also have a nonprofit called I Promise in the Cutler Bay area. I actually started the entire business about four to five years ago.
“I have been doing critical care business credit, helping business owners with their businesses and helping them to grow their businesses. This is my passion and I’ve been doing this for years. I was doing it for free at first and then I decided, let me make it a business, so I made it into a business, and I’ve been doing it ever since.”
Render has helped people get new homes, new cars and she has helped business owners get funding for their businesses. She is in the credit repair industry.
“I do a lot of things in the community also,” she said. “I do gift bags, things at Christmas, back to school, Easter egg hunts. You name it, I do it. I’m currently funding everything out of my own pocket.”
She loves doing it all.
“Just recently, about two months ago, there was a whole family sleeping by Home Depot and I took them into the hotel in Cutler Bay and paid for about a month,” she said. “I clothed the kids; they didn’t have any clothes. I took care of the family for a month straight and I was very consistent with it.”
