During a recent the Rotary Club of Coral Gables, the founder and CEO of A Safe Haven for Newborns, Nick Silverio, recounted the story of how the tragic death of his wife and what he calls a message from God late one night prompted him to create the Gloria and Nick Silverio Foundation doing business as A Safe Haven for Newborns.

Nick and wife, Gloria, loved children, and she had experienced a miscarriage. One night as he flipped through a magazine he read about the proliferation of abandoned infants and that is the beginning of what has become an amazing non-profit that has a 24/7 hot line and has saved 430 lives thus far, three of those already in 2025.
