The Hollywood Donut Factory, a local, family-owned business founded by siblings Bobby and Kat Palushaj, is making waves in South Florida with its handcrafted donuts and community-first approach.

Growing up in New York City as the youngest of eight, Bobby Palushaj remembers how food played a major role in his family’s life, especially weekend trips to the local donut shop—a cherished family tradition that later inspired the launch of The Hollywood Donut Factory.

In 2019, the Palushajs took over Dandy Donuts in Hollywood. They first expanded to Downtown Fort Lauderdale and, in November 2024, opened new locations in Bird Road, Coral Gables, and Kendall. With the acquisition of Mojo Donuts’ Miami locations, they remain committed to quality, affordability, and community engagement as they continue to grow.

The Hollywood Donut Factory blends classic flavors with innovation. While many signature flavors were inherited, the Palushajs have introduced new options based on customer preferences. Their donuts are made fresh every morning, staying true to Bobby’s motto: “Bigger, better, fresher.”

Alongside their unique donuts and donut holes, they serve coffee, tea, and soda, plus a bakery selection of bagels, croissants, and breakfast sandwiches. Some of their most popular menu items are the sour cream and blueberry sour cream cake donuts, along with regionally inspired flavors like guava and cheese.

On any given day, customers can choose from 60 to 75 different varieties, making it one of South Florida’s most diverse specialty donut shops.

This February, The Hollywood Donut Factory cemented their status as a rising name in the South Florida food scene when they participated in the South Beach Wine & Food Festival, serving hundreds of guests at the Loews Hotel Sunday brunch.

Beyond making donuts, the Palushajs are dedicated to giving back to the community. They donate leftover products daily to homeless ministries and charitable organizations and support local events, including sponsoring 5K races with mini donuts.

“Mom-and-pop businesses are the backbone of the community,” Bobby said. “The community supports us, so we believe in supporting them.”

Expanding a multi-location business hasn’t come without hurdles. One of the biggest challenges has been reintroducing The Hollywood Donut Factory to former Mojo Donut customers who assumed the Miami locations had closed. Additionally, managing multiple Miami-Dade locations while based in Broward presents logistical difficulties, with Bobby often leaving his home at 2:30 a.m. to ensure fresh deliveries.

Despite these challenges, the brand continues to grow. The Hollywood Donut Factory also supplies fresh products to 18 Circle K locations throughout South Florida and serves donuts at Florida Panthers games. Looking ahead, the Palushajs plan to expand further, aiming to open a location at Miami International Airport so travelers can bring boxes of donuts to their loved ones all over the world.

The Hollywood Donut Factory is currently working on multiple collaborations that will soon be announced. On March 22, they will host a pop-up event with the popular burger brand, Burger Beast.

“You can have the best product, but if you don’t treat people right, they won’t come back,” Bobby said. “At the end of the day, it’s not just about donuts—it’s about making people feel like family.”
