The Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department (CAHSD) Older Adults and Individuals with Disabilities Division, in partnership with Older Adults Technology Service (OATS) from AARP and with funding from Comcast, is launching the Digital Navigation Train-the-Trainer Program to help older adults and individuals with disabilities gain essential digital skills.
Through this initiative, volunteers from Miami-Dade County’s Foster Grandparent, Retired Senior Volunteer, Respite for Elder Living in Everyday Families, and Senior Companion Programs will be trained as Digital Navigators who will assist older adults across Miami-Dade County with developing digital literacy skills.
These navigators will receive six to seven comprehensive training sessions on how to empower older adults through technology, improve their ability to connect with loved ones, access an award-winning online curriculum, and navigate essential digital services.
OATS has been at the forefront of technology training for older adults for over 20 years. Its flagship program, Senior Planet, provides engaging and accessible digital literacy courses to older adults nationwide.
Wynwood now hosts a Senior Planet Center, a state-of-the-art facility that is open daily, providing hands-on tech support, classes, and workshops designed to help older adults become more confident with using computers, smartphones, and the internet. Older residents can drop in for one-on-one assistance or participate in structured courses on topics such as emails, video conferencing, online safety, and more.

• Connect older adults to affordable free internet services.
• Provide access to ongoing technology training at the Senior Planet Center.
Older adults in Miami-Dade County are encouraged to visit the Senior Planet Center in Wynwood for free tech training and support.
