Nami Miami-Dade Announces New Board Chair And Members To Lead Continued Advocacy And Support For Mental Health

NAMI Miami-Dade County announced today the  appointment of a new Board Chair, Kevin Andrews, along with the addition of four new Board  Members. This follows the terming out of long-time Board Chair Susan Racher and Board  Members Dr. Patricia Ares-Romero, Ana ‘Teri’ Busse-Arvesue, William ‘Ted’ Franklin, and  Rev. Dr. Walter T. Richardson.  

“We are incredibly grateful to Susan Racher and all of the retiring Board members and are  excited to welcome these new members who will bring a new perspective and help us continue to  increase our services and impact on the community,” said NAMI Miami-Dade President and  CEO, Susan Holtzman. 

The newly appointed Board Members include Dr. Lucia Baez-Geller (Educator and Community  Leader), Tiffinie V. Bratcher (Public Health Professional), Dr. Rachna Buxani-Mirpuri (Licensed  Mental Health Counselor), and Adam Stolz (Attorney and Mental Health Advocate). Moreover,  Pierre Rutledge, Chair of the Miami-Dade Black Advisory Board, has been elected Chair of the  NAMI Black Advisory Committee. These individuals bring a wealth of experience in law,  psychology, public health, and education. They will help further NAMI Miami-Dade’s mission  to support individuals affected by mental illness and advocate for mental health awareness. 

“I look forward to working with the team and our Board to reduce stigma and continue the  growth in services and funding that we have experienced over the last few years.” said newly  elected Board Chair Kevin Andrews.  

NAMI Miami-Dade County has experienced significant growth over the past few years, hosting  the largest Walk for Mental Health Awareness in the United States and providing information,  support, and services to thousands of people. The addition of these new Board Members ensures  the organization stays connected to the evolving needs of our community. Each of these new  leaders brings their unique experiences and outlooks, and together, they will help bring fresh  ideas and renewed energy to our mission.
