OYC Miami recently celebrated the grand opening of the “We The Best Foundation Music Lab powered by Playing for Change” with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by community leaders, partners, and supporters dedicated to youth empowerment and creative development.

Celebrated at OYC Miami’s campus in the heart of Overtown, the celebration marked a powerful moment of progress for music education and artistic opportunity in South Florida.

This innovative new space, made possible through the generosity of We The Best Foundation and premier partner Playing for Change, offers students access to professional-grade equipment, music production tools, and a safe space to explore sound, expression, and self-discovery.

This opening also marks a historic milestone as Playing for Change’s first music lab in Miami, expanding its global mission of using music to inspire and connect youth through education and cultural collaboration.

Distinguished guests in attendance included DJ Khaled and Nicole Tuck, City of Miami Mayor Francis Xavier Suarez, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Keon Hardemon, Miami-Dade County Public Schools Board member Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall, Mark Caesar of the Caesar-Iglesias Foundation, Rohan Marley and OYC Miami founders Alonzo Mourning and Tracy Wilson Mourning. Together, they joined OYC students and staff to commemorate this important milestone with inspiring remarks, student showcases, and a tour of the new lab.
