The books are open!
The computers are humming! The Media Center is buzzing! The 2012-2013 school year has officially begun and our students are hard at work mastering new skills and making new friends. Yes, it is time for parents and students to adjust to new schedules that include time for homework, time for extra-curricular activities and time for school meetings.
Once again NSE SIB K-8 has planned a busy, challenging year filled with special events for students and parents. I want to let you know about the various ways you can stay informed and involved.
First there are the websites. Be sure these two are in your favorites: www.dadeschools.net and www.sib.dadeschools.net From the school website you can access the PTSA website which features the weekly Parent Express detailing the activities happening during the week and projected plans. You can also find important forms and dates on the PTSA website. If your child’s teacher has a website, you can access that through the school website as well.
Next are the Connect Ed phone messages. I often call your home with important information. Please keep a pad and pencil next to your phone so you can jot down times and dates. These calls include upcoming events.
Of course we can always be reached by phone or email. If you would like to speak with an administrator or a teacher, just contact us by phone or email for an appointment.
Finally, remember to check the marquee everyday at arrival or dismissal. Meetings and special events are posted there to focus on an upcoming event.
Back to School is an exciting, sometimes stressful time, as students adjust to new teachers and new subjects. We know that some children take longer than others to acclimate to their new surroundings, but I want to assure each of you that our staff is working to make each child comfortable in his new surroundings and to ensure that they have a successful academic experience. We are all confident that this will be another productive year for your children and your family.
