Miami Dade County School Board Member Roberto J. Alonso, District 4, kicked off the new school year in true community spirit by hosting a vibrant and heartfelt Back to School Pig Roast on August 5 at the historic Hialeah Senior High School. The event brought together principals, administrators, staff, and Region personnel from District 4 for an afternoon dedicated to celebrating success, strengthening bonds, and reigniting the shared passion for educational excellence.
The gathering was more than just a meal. It was a moment to reflect on the remarkable work being done across our schools and to rally together for the year ahead. In a powerful show of gratitude, Board Member Alonso recognized the incredible accomplishments of 22 District 4 schools that earned an “A” rating and 12 schools that earned a “B,” applauding the dedication, resilience, and leadership that made these achievements possible.
“This event was about more than just food and fellowship. It was about honoring the heart and soul of our schools: our leaders,” said Board Member Alonso. “Every day, they pour their energy, passion, and love into their communities. I’m proud to stand alongside them as we begin this school year united, inspired, and ready to do even more for our students.”
With lively music, delicious food, and a strong sense of camaraderie, the afternoon reflected the strength and unity of District 4’s leadership as they prepare for the 2025–2026 school year. The celebration was made possible thanks to the generous support of community sponsors including Larkin Community Hospital, the City of Hialeah Chamber of Commerce, and Coca-Cola Beverages Florida, LLC, whose contributions helped make the event a resounding success.
