During a recent regular meeting, the Miami-Dade County School Board commissioned an architectural/engineering firm for a renovation project at Riverside Elementary School, 1190 SW Second St., valued at approximately $21.6 million.
Gurri Matute PA was chosen as Architect/Engineer of Record for this renovation and new addition project. Built in 1990, Riverside Elementary School spans approximately four acres and comprises two permanent buildings, serving a total of 835 enrolled students.
The scope of the project includes the addition of a new 23,387-square-foot building providing 396 student stations and a teacher planning office.
There also will be a new covered walkway to connect the new building to Building 1. The ground level of the new building will feature a new shelter and basketball courts, bleachers, and a scoreboard.
Other improvements include access to the new parking/parent drop off, a pedestrian pathway and adding parking spaces. The new design will include an access/exit road to the new building as well as new landscaping. The expected completion date for this project is November 2027.
