It was announced on Aug. 6 that Terra Group had hosted a community meeting in the Town of Cutler Bay to discuss the proposed development of a new public park as part of a larger redevelopment project at the South Dade Government Center.
Miami-Dade County owns land located at 10740 SW 211 St. and the approximately 7.2-acre site is for affordable housing for moderate-income families. Phase I of the project involves about four acres of the property with a public park to be guided by feedback from the town’s residents.
Getting the public involved began last year. The first community meeting was at the South Dade Regional Library where the Terra Group development team presented the business and residential components of the plan. The town has a 99-year ground lease agreement with Miami-Dade County.
“During a July 2025 Community Conversation meeting, residents were encouraged to ask questions, offer suggestions and help shape a park that reflects the community’s vision,” said Rod Gibson, the town’s public information officer. “Attendees, including Councilmember Rick Ramirez, town manager Rafael Casals and Miami-Dade County staff, offered valuable input. Councilmember Ramirez suggested the addition of a sensory playground for neurodivergent children, and residents asked about amenities planned for the dog park.
Representatives from Terra and the county confirmed that the proposed park will be open to all residents and that the community center will offer programming for all ages, including hosting events for the town’s Active Adults program.”
The proposed park will feature a 7,000-square-foot community center, outdoor fitness circuit, tot lot, splash pad, scenic canal overlook, community garden and flexible open lawn for events and recreation programs. A natural sound and visual buffer will be provided by a berm along W. Frontage Road (SW 107th Avenue). Easy access to the Dennis C. Moss Cultural Arts Center is part of the plan.
Residents who were unable to attend the meeting but want to provide feedback or ask questions are encouraged to contact the Terra Group at info@terragroup.com or call 305-416-4556.
