Women of Tomorrow® Mentor & Scholarship Program is proud to  announce the appointment of Dr. Belinda Gonzalez-Leon as Executive Director for South Florida. In this  role, she will oversee operations and strategic direction for one of the organization’s largest regions,  which currently serves approximately 2,700 students across 119 public high schools in Miami-Dade,  Broward, and Palm Beach counties.

Founded in 1997, Women of Tomorrow® empowers at-risk young women to achieve their full potential  through mentorship by accomplished professional women, workforce exposure, and college  scholarships. To date, the program has impacted more than 30,000 students, awarded nearly $9 million  in scholarships, and achieved a 99% high school graduation rate among an at-risk population.

In South Florida, more than 200 mentors meet monthly with groups of public high girls during the school  day, providing long-term guidance, building self-confidence, and exposing mentees to educational and  professional opportunities they might not otherwise encounter. The program also provides enrichment  activities such as career-focused field trips, college campus visits, and summits on issues including  public safety, leadership, and personal development.

Dr. Leon has over 25 years of experience in higher education administration. She holds a bachelor’s  degree in psychology and an MBA degree from Nova Southeastern University as well as a Doctorate in  Education from Argosy University. Dr. Leon has been recognized nationally for her leadership, advocacy,  and commitment to advancing opportunities for women and minorities. In addition, she graduated from  the National Hispana Leadership Institute as a 2005 fellow.

With Dr. Leon’s leadership, Women of Tomorrow® will continue expanding its reach and delivering on its  mission to inspire, motivate, and empower young women to break cycles of poverty and violence, achieve  academic success, and prepare for meaningful careers.
