South Miami’s Kitchen 57 has just about turned one year old and the verdict is in. People love the place.
The brainchild of Chef-Owner Michael Altman, former executive chef and managing partner of Town Kitchen and Bar, Kitchen 57 now occupies Town’s corner location at 7301 SW 57th Court.
“We had an unprecedented summer, with customers enjoying family dinners, business lunches, special occasions in our private dining room, or just to stop in for a quick pizza or relax at the bar with friends,” says Altman. “Our team recognizes familiar faces and makes people feel comfortable. We have very little staff turnover so the service and food remain consistent and the prices are always reasonable.”
Although Altman attributes a robust presence on social media for attracting customers, word-of-mouth advertising from loyal diners has been a huge factor in the restaurant’s success.
“I’ve been a Miami local for a long time and Kitchen 57 is exactly what the neighborhood needed,” says Cesar Sogbe. “The food is amazing, the atmosphere is great and the staff all treat you like family.”
Frequent patron Alan Brown concurs. “Kitchen 57 is always our go-to spot for a casual dinner. Their Caesar salad never disappoints and their ratatouille is always delicious. We frequent the restaurant so often that we have gotten to know and love the staff. It’s just the very perfect casual neighborhood joint,” says Brown.
Specials include the hugely popular Tuesday Burgers and Bottles, with $10 burgers and half off select bottles of wine, as well as Wednesday’s “Chef Michael’s Famous Calamari” and Ladies’ Night on Thursdays with complimentary bubbly from 4-7 p.m. The restaurant also hosts an epic happy hour on Fridays from 4-7 and Saturdays from 4-6 p.m.
According to Altman, among the restaurant’s home runs are chicken parmesan with linguini, cioppino, smash burger, wedge salad and the house’s signature lychee “Rose” martini.
“Everyone will find something they will love here,” says Altman.
