Miami-Dade Department of Environmental Resources Management lifted a four-year moratorium on Opa-locka’s sewer pump station 11A in September after the city completed needed repairs and upgrades on the 40-year old station.
The $840,000 in improvements to the sewer station, made by C & I Construction and Design, allow the City of Opa-locka to invite new development projects to the area. Projects such as the low-rental senior housing apartment complex can move forward now that the moratorium has been lifted. Plus, other businesses in the downtown district, which had to hold off on expanding, can start development projects.
Sewer pump station 11A serves the downtown Opa-locka district. Its service area boundaries are South along Ali Baba Ave, North up to NW 151 Street, East to NW 22nd Court and West along NW 37th Avenue. Included is a corner section of property that lies between NW 151st Street and 155th Terrace, from NW 37th Ave to NW 32nd Place, in the City of Miami Gardens.
Pump station 11A is among seven other sewer pump stations approved and pending completion during the city’s 2013 fiscal year.
