
distributed the Turkeys
Thanks to Commissioner Timothy Holmes, the City of Opa-locka Mayor and Commission, over one thousand turkeys were distributed to employees and residents, during the Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Give-Away on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 12:00 Noon, in the East parking lot of Historic City Hall, 777 Sharazad Boulevard, Opa-locka, Florida 33054.

In anticipation of an overwhelming demand, Opa-locka residents began forming a line before 7:00 AM to assure that they would be among the first to receive turkeys, in the event of a shortage. Needless to say, from the gratitude and expressions on all faces, the Commissioner did not fall short of his promise!
Holmes remarked, “Each year, my heart is overjoyed when my colleagues and I are able to raise the funds to purchase enough turkeys for so many of our citizens who look forward to this day.” He commented, “Whereas this may be a small contribution to the overall holiday feast for some, for others who have been hit with economic hard times, it is the ONLY part of the traditional meal they will have on Thanksgiving Day.” Holmes added, “There are a lot of decent, hardwork
