$35,000 roof donation addresses critical health needs for Homestead veteran with immune deficiency
Action Roofing, a member of the Peak Roofing Partners Family of Companies and an Official Roofing Partner of the Miami Dolphins, teamed up with the Dolphins for the second straight year to provide a free roof to a local resident.
On Jan. 23, Miami Dolphins alumni, Troy Drayton, and cheerleaders, joined staff from the organizations to surprise Alex Silva Jr. and his family at his residence with the news of the new roof (valued at $35,000). Nominated by the Wounded Warrior Project – a Miami Dolphins Football UNITES™ partner – Silva, a disabled veteran from Homestead, was able to select the color of the roofing before the team began working on his roof replacement.
Silva, an Army veteran of six years with his wife and children, suffers from Common Variable Immunodeficiency, requiring biweekly in-home plasma treatments. His current roof leaks have created unsafe living conditions that are worsening his medical condition, making this veteran especially in need of the replacement.
“At Action Roofing, we believe a sound roof is more than just protection from the elements – it’s essential for health and safety, especially for someone with Mr. Silva’s medical needs,” said Bruce Bessire, Chief Operating Officer of Peak Roofing Partners. “We’re proud to partner with the Miami Dolphins for the second year to provide this life-changing gift to a veteran who has given so much for our country.”
Action Roofing will provide all materials and labor for the complete roof replacement at no cost to Silva and his family, including removal of the damaged roof, structural repairs to affected areas, and installation of a new high-quality roofing system designed to withstand Florida’s severe weather conditions.
“This partnership with the Miami Dolphins allows us to make a meaningful difference in the life of a local hero,” said Alvin Daniels, Director of Operations at Action Roofing. “It is an honor to connect with Alex and his family during this special moment. We are thankful to the Miami Dolphins for consistently supporting our veterans and helping us provide Alex with the safe home environment he deserves.”
This collaboration represents the organizations’ shared commitment in supporting military veterans throughout Florida. Despite his health challenges, Silva remains active in veteran support initiatives alongside his father, a former Marine Corps service member.
