Paulina Rugg began her career in the Tourism and Hospitality industry in 2004. Serving as an Event Manager and Consultant with Global Spectrum at the Miami Beach Convention Center (MBCC), Paulina has been an integral part of the successes at the facility since 2008. She is responsible for managing some of the largest conventions and groups that come to the City of Miami Beach, to include Miami Fashion Week, Cruise Shipping Miami, Florida International Medical Expo, American Academy of Periodontology, Best Buy, and Nike.
Born and raised in Mexico City and a South Florida resident since 2001, Paulina’s love for customer service combined with the challenging fast-paced details of event production put her on the path to this industry. She is a graduate of Florida International University’s School of Hospitality and Tourism. During her time at FIU, she worked at the Hyatt Regency Bonaventure and served as an intern with the Mexico Tourism Board. All of these experiences are what ultimately propelled her to land her current position at the MBCC.
“Paulina has a tremendously bright future in this industry,” said MBCC General Manager Bob Balsam. “She is the consummate professional and provides a personalized hands on approach with all of her events. Her attention to detail and proactive thinking make her one of the best Event Managers I’ve had the opportunity to work with.”
In addition to her on-site responsibilities at the MBCC, Paulina takes time out of the office to support the local community. Her love for the outdoors and staying active is apparent in her day-to-day lifestyle. She strives to help her local community while at work by supporting initiatives, such as making sure all unused materials from events are donated to the Education Fund. Paulina is always looking for new opportunities to help. She regularly participates in volunteer opportunities involving organizations and initiatives including ECOMB’s Adopt-ABeach, City of Miami Beach Blood Drives, Tree mendous of Miami-Dade County, the Hands-On Broward Program, Bike-To-Work Days, and Earth Day just to name a few.
“I am so fortunate for my personal and professional experiences here at the Miami Beach Convention Center,” said Rugg. “Over the last five years at the MBCC, these experiences have strengthened my passion for this industry and my love of South Florida. I look forward to continuing to grow with this community!”
