Saturday night, June 15, was a picture perfect summer evening. Crowds gathered at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean for the grand opening of the Newport Fishing Pier. Special guests, tourists and residents were given commemorative souvenirs and treated to a fireworks display at sunset.
On June 16, the City of Sunny Isles Beach turned Sweet 16. Visitors from Hengchun, Taiwan were honored guests for the celebration featuring an all American barbeque, music, rides for the kids and free gifts for all. The entire City Commission, acting as hosts for the day, ceremoniously cut and served the traditional anniversary cake.
