DAVID EVENSKY

David Evensky is perfectly suited for his career and position as a principal at Evensky & Katz, a 27-yearold financial planning firm with $750 million of assets under management, based in Coral Gables and with an office in Texas.

A client liaison, Evensky is responsible for his firm’s business development and community outreach. A graduate of the University of Maryland, Evensky joined Evensky & Katz in 2001. Before his immersion into the Gables, he served as a member of the City of Miami Beach Budget Committee (2001-03).

As early as 2004, Evensky became involved in the community receiving the Key to the City of Miami Beach for his philanthropic efforts with the Young Professionals Network (YPN). He received the Key to Miami-Dade County in February 2009 for his involvement as founder of the Motivated Youth Program (www.motivatedyouth.org), a program he ran through the Coral Gables Community Foundation.

Other awards and honors include being featured in the Miami Herald Philanthropy Section, Sun Post “50 Most Influential People”, being featured as “The Achiever” in Miami Today, and being asked to be guest speaker at the Financial Advisor Symposium in Las Vegas, Chicago and Orlando.

Evensky currently is completing a threeyear term on the Coral Gables Community Foundation Board and the Miami Children’s Hospital Diamond Ball Committee. He also serves on the U-Access Board (2012-13). With the heart of a philanthropist and the take charge attitude of an entrepreneur, he is the founder and past chair of the YPN (2000), a youth mobilization organization that has logged thousands of hours in the local community. He is chair and founder of Evensky & Katz’s Golf Tournament, now in its seventh year. That event alone has disbursed $200,000 in grants and economic activity into our community.

Evensky is a member of the Miami Art Museum, Miami-Dade Financial Planning Association (FPA), Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce, Baptist Health Foundation, University of Miami Citizen’s Board, Kristi House, Shake-A-Leg, Friendship Circle, American Jewish Committee (AJC), Greater Miami Jewish Federation, Heritage Foundation, Thomas Armour Youth Ballet, Young Ambassadors of Miami Children’s Hospital, and the Ayn Rand Society. He is a society member of Mount Sinai and a board member of the Sabrina Cohen Foundation for Stem Cell Research.

With all this on his plate and an office move some months ago, he manages to enjoy spending family time with his wife and children, ages 9 and 6 years old, and baby, 4 months old.
