The end of the calendar year is marked for the annual awards program for the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department. For 15 years, since its inception, several special recognition awards have been given and a few more have been added along the way.
This year, the very special and significant Officer of the Year Award went to our very dear school resource officer, Patty Gonzalez, of the Norman S. Edelcup SIB K-8 Community School. Officer Gonzalez has taken the role of SRO to a whole new level and is highly respected by school administrators, the teachers and staff and most importantly, the students of all grades and ages.
