Two Miami-Dade Police Hammocks District detectives, including Det. Ravi Udnani (pictured, center) were honored for their roles working with U.S. Secret Service agents to identify two individuals who victimized four Miami automotive dealerships. The detective’s work lead to the suspects’ arrest and conviction after the pair had swindled $1.1 million from Esserman Volkswagon Credit Company. Both now serving federal prison sentences, the pair used “straw” buyer’s credit information to obtain new vehicles, drive away the cars and then fail to make payments. Det. Otto Ablanedo who was equally cited for his work on the joint enforcement agency case was absent when Det. Udnani received the March Officer of the Month award from CAC chair James Blough (left) and Capt. Miguel Hernandez (right) duriung the Mar. 26 Hammocks District Citizen Advisory Committee meeting.
