Attention to all of the ghouls and goblins! The City of Sunny Isles Beach, Cultural and Human Services Department is hosting a FREE magical Halloween celebration at the Pelican Community Park at 18115 North Bay Road on Saturday, October 30th and Sunday, October 31st, 2010 from 7:00 to 10:00 pm. This event, sponsored in part by Luke’s Landscaping, will have amazing rides, games, arts & crafts, a magical entertainment show, fun foods, and the best Haunted House on the Beach (there will be a nominal charge of $1 per visit into the Haunted House).
Several food vendors will be on site, including the local chapter of Kiwanis International, whose proceeds from food sales will go to benefit several local youth programs. The Coral Gables Police Athletic League will be on hand selling fun foods in the concession area.
Entertainment for both evenings will include magicians and musical entertainment by J Productions. In the R.K. Sports Center Gymnasium every hour there will be a magic show on the Haunted Stage area, (7:15pm, 8:15pm, 9:15pm). Also in the R.K. Sports Center Gymnasium there will be magical clowns, balloon artist, face painter, carnival game booths and a Halloween arts and crafts area.
On Sunday, October 31st from 7:00 to 9:00 pm Radio Disney AM 990 will be on-site with entertainment, games and prizes. You will be sure to have a magical time with Radio Disney there! At 9:00 pm on Sunday, October 31st, we will host our annual Costume Contest for all ages. Kids, teens, and adults are all encouraged to participate. The contests are open to all and friendly competition is encouraged. Please be sure to register by 8:30pm in the R.K. Sports Center Gymnasium. Gift certificates to area merchants will be awarded to the best costumes in the Kids, Teens and Adult age groups.
Parking is available in the Government Center parking lot and garage, as well as along 181st drive and the Sunny Isles Beach School Parking garage. The city Shuttle Service will be running on a special events schedule throughout the evening, beginning at 6:30 PM. When you ride the Community Shuttle you will get a special treat! Sunny Isles Beach Police will be available to provide safe crossing for pedestrians.
