Aventura City of Excellence K-8 (ACES) and Don Soffer Aventura High School have a great deal to be proud of… both have won A ratings from the Florida Department of Education.

School grades provide an easily understandable metric to measure the performance of a school. Parents and the general public can use the school grade and its associated components to understand how well each school is serving its students. And there’s no doubt that both ACES and Don Soffer Aventura High School are serving their students exceptionally well. The school grading system focuses the school grading formula on student success measures, including achievement, learning gains,  graduation, acceleration success and maintaining a focus on students who need the most support Soffer High just completed its third year, and this is the first year the school has received a grade.  “Our students, teachers, and staff all came together to achieve excellence. We will continue to raise the bar and deliver world-class education to Aventura’s students,” said Soffer High principal  Dr. Geoff McKee.

ACES has earned an A every year since the school opened in 2003.  Principal Dr.Anthony Tyrkala reacted to the news by saying, “I am so proud of everyone at ACES for continuing to achieve the state’s top grade. Our students, parents, and educators continue to make us proud.”

Mayor Enid Weisman celebrated the accomplishment of Aventura’s schools, saying, “I am very proud that both schools accomplished this in these difficult times. Kudos to our principals, teachers, and students for earning these A’s”.
