Gladys Mezrahi honored  by Sen. Taddeo during “ Colombia Day” at the Florida CapitolYears ago, Florida Senator Annette Taddeo created an initiative to honor Colombians who have made an impact and contributed to the economic growth of Florida.  One of the honorees at the 2022 event held in Tallahasseewas the Hon. Gladys Mezrahi who was surprised by Sen. Taddeo with a proclamation in her honor as the first elected official from Colombia in the State of Florida and her contributions as a business owner and for her community service.

On one of the events, organized by Indigo Events,  Mezrahi was able to bring the  WOW Factor  by serving “refajo”, a typical Colombian drink  that brought everyone back to their roots and a flashback of a country left behind but with many memories still alive. Many elected officials joined in the celebration, including the Israel Council General to Florida who took time for a refajo toast with Sen. Victor Torres and Marta Arias from the Colombian-American Bar Association.

A full agenda was planned for day two that began with a Colombian breakfast on the 22nd floor of the Capitol building followed by recognition from both houses of the Capitol and a closing lunch before rounds of  meetings.  Mezrahi met with Senators Lauren Book and Jason Pizzo about her program, “LovingMeMore by The Power of the Heels Foundation” for at-risk girls in black communities, and received great advice from both legislators.
