City of Aventura and Aventura Police Dept. host bike safety and ride

“Build it and they shall come”…that famous phrase from the movie Field of Dreams was the goal of the City of Aventura and the Aventura Police Department as they built a community bike event that brought out hundreds upon hundreds of people on a Sunday morning riding bikes, scooters and even rollerblades.

Starting at Aventura Founders Park where the event included bike safety and bike maintenance presentations, free helmets, water bottles electrolyte popsicles and an opportunity to interact with police, enter to win prizes and speak with representatives of the City’s bike share program, Aventura B-Cycle.

Police Chief Bryan Pegues said, “Being able to interact and ride bicycles throughout our beautiful city with almost 400 children and their families was so special. Hot dogs, frozen icy pops and a competitive bike rodeo were just some of the highlights of this amazing event. The weather was perfect and the smiles were abundant. I want to thank all of the hardworking Aventura police officers who dedicated their time to make this such an outstanding event for our community. “
