The COVID-19 pandemic has changed daily life. But many parents and caregivers who need to go to work will have to start making summer plans soon. The Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center’s Camp Sol Taplin, one of the largest and most established summer camps in South Florida, has provided children ages 3–15 with amazing summer experiences for over 40 years.

In 2020, Camp Sol Taplin was one of the only summer camps in the area that opened camp during the pandemic—providing a safe, small-group quality program that offered a wide variety of indoor and outdoor activities. Safety protocols certainly changed—children remained in small groups with the same children and counselors throughout the day to avoid commingling, daily temperature checks were mandatory, daily health screenings before drop-off were mandatory, social distancing was performed, face coverings were mandatory, a full-time registered nurse was on staff and, additional housekeeping staff was on schedule to clean and disinfect the campus. But, the fun and excitement of camp remained the same! “We never wavered in believing we could provide children with fun-filled summer days in a safe and well-supervised environment,” says Alan Sataloff, Chief Executive Officer of the MARJCC.

With over 25 unique camps are available from June 14–August 13, 2021, the J literally has something for every camper! The wide array of options includes Coding and Graphic Design camp, Drone camp, Hebrew Immersion camp, Theatre camp, Dance camps, Art Exploration, and Sports, including aquatics, basketball, flag football, tennis and soccer. And with weekly and monthly camp options available, parents can customize their children’s summer camp experience, focusing on their favorite activities.

Campers also attend a wide variety of specialty classes, including You Are What You Eat, Recreational Swimming, Magic, Art, Youth Fitness, Yoga, and Music, that help children develop new skills and discover new interests.

While Camp Sol Taplin’s current processes and procedures may change as CDC COVID-19 guidelines change, camp always provides children with a much-needed routine, the opportunity to make new friends, exciting weekly themes, and countless adventures!

Register now to reserve a space for your child with the option of receiving a full refund through May 1, 2021.
