‘Serene to Extreme’ fitness

By Bari Auerbach….
When it comes to your fitness routine – it can really get “routine” and boring if you keep doing the same workout day-in and day-out. It’s important to change up your workouts to avoid hitting progress plateaus. Now, just time in time to help everyone get their beach bodies ready for summer, Olympia Gym in Aventura is presenting a schedule of versatile classes to keep workouts “fresh and fun” – everything from serene yoga to extreme ultimate fitness/boot camp challenges.

Here is a sampling of just some of the classes offered on a daily basis…for a complete schedule, visit olympiagym.com

Monday: Start the day off with rejuvenating Power Yoga at 8 a.m. or burn and tone with a Step & Sculpt class at 9 a.m. Then come back to Olympia at 7:30 p.m. for a high-energy Spinning class.

Tuesday: It’s 7 a.m. and the parking lot in front of Olympia is already filling up with fitness enthusiasts gearing up for Spinning class, followed by an Ultimate Fitness/ Sculpting class at 9 a.m. Then to develop hard-core strength, Pilates Reformer classes start at 11:30 a.m. (on Tuesdays and Fridays). Later in the evening, the turnout is even greater for the most popular Zumba class at 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday: “Just breathe” and prepare to take on the day with a 7:15 a.m. Yoga class. Then, everyone who wants rock hard abs never misses the 8:30 a.m. Abs class. If anyone asks, “So you think you can dance?” Say “Yes! I’m taking Dance Lab at 6:30 p.m.” – yet another innovative Olympia class.

Thursday: For ultimate power and energy, try the Power Sculpting class at 10 a.m. Then see why everyone lines up to experience Bodyforging…From body fat burning with deep muscle burning exercises – to the internal balance of “mind, body, soul” flexibility and core training, Bodyforging can strengthen the whole body with no weights or big machines.

According to Bodyforging founder and master instructor Kevin Philion, “Bodyforging combines philosophies inherent in martial arts, power yoga and Tai Chi…You’ll maximize fat loss and flexibility with power poses, concentration, and balance…Bodyforging focuses on deep breathing, low heart rate and non-impact basic movements.”

Friday: Olympia wants you as a new recruit for Boot Camp at 9 a.m. People of all fitness levels can participate and work at their own pace.

Saturday and Sunday: Weekends at Olympia keep every body busy with classes from 9 a.m. to noon ranging from Spinning, Bodyforging and Power Yoga – to Zumba, Ultimate Fitness and Kickboxing.

Win-Win Bonus: Through June 30, referring a friend or relative to join Olympia on an annual or open membership can earn you $20 – plus registration in a drawing for grand prizes including 12 personal training sessions, a kayak, beach bike and 40” flat screen T.V.

  1. Olympia Gym in Aventura sounds really interesting and I think I’ll try out one of their sessions. I regularly work out at Biscayne Boxing & Fitness Club. I love boxing as it is a great way to lose weight, practice self-defense, and it’s just a fun way to give your body a full workout.
