As part of the “Ballets for the Family” series and in an effort to keep young audiences engaged in classical ballet, Arts Ballet Theatre of Florida presents for the enjoyment of the entire family, its popular and fun ballet Dr. Ouch!
Dr. Ouch!is a story based on the poems of Kornei Chukovsky about a doctor that cures animals. The ballet, with music of I. Morozov and choreography by Vladimir Issaev, tells the fun adventures lived by Dr. Ouch, when he is called to help the monkeys in Africa who have become very ill. During his journey, he encounters tropical animals and exotic birds while mischievous pirates make Dr. Ouch’s mission a difficult but hilarious adventure.
With costumes designed by Jorge Gallardo and sets by Elena and Igor Bond, this wonderful production will delight everyone ages 2 to 92. Principal professional dancers Lisa Maltseva and Shannon Smith along with Andrey Konkin and Renee Roberts will dance the principal roles of the exotic birds.
Dr. Ouch! will be presented Sat., March 5th at 7 p.m. and Sun., March 6th at 3 p.m. at the Julius Littman Performing Arts Theater and Sat., March 12th and Sun. March 13th at the Amaturo Theatre of the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
