Celebrating Women’s History Month in Miami

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

With Women’s History Month events happening throughout March and International Women’s Day celebrated on March 8, it’s a wonderful time to celebrate women all across Greater Miami & Miami Beach.

Miami holds the unique distinction of being the only major U.S. city founded by a woman.

As legend has it, Julia Tuttle convinced railroad magnate Henry Flagler to extend his rail line and build a hotel in this corner of southeast Florida in 1894, when the northern part of the state was suffering through a deep freeze. She sent an orange blossom from her garden to Flagler in St. Augustine as proof of the area’s ideal subtropical climate. Especially given that chapter in its history, Miami is a great place to celebrate Women’s History Month. Check out the variety of events filling the calendar in March 2023.
