Shark Tank – Aventura Marketing Council style” was the entrepreneurial theme of the day when DSX Labs, a division of DS Xpress, teamed with attorney Russel Lazega, author of the moving and entertaining book Managing Bubbie, to host the AMC’s May Chairman’s Roundtable luncheon. The event gave tech-related start-up companies chasing the American dream a golden opportunity to lure savvy investors with a perfect business pitch.
AMC Chair Cliff Schulman of Weiss, Serota Helfman welcomed AMC business and community leaders gathered at Christine Lee’s at Gulfstream Park along with DSX Labs partners Dimitry Shaposhnikov and Dan Gudema; and Florida Advocates law firm founder Russel Lazega, whose new book “Managing Bubbie” is receiving rave reviews on Amazon.
The ultimate networker proving entrepreneurship is alive and well featured a panel of successful potential investors: Elliot Harris, Mark Wigder and Dan Gudema. Similar to the criticallyacclaimed TV show Shark Tank, the panel considered investments in exchange for partial ownership and ROI. The presenters included: Scott Wagner of Who Ya Got; Leon Gomez of MyCircles; and Thomas Gregory of SoFla Sunwear.
Before the sharks started circling, AMC members learned more about Lazega’s new book, “Managing Bubbie” – a poignant book sharing the hilarious and often exhausting trials of his Miami Beach family as they try to manage their beloved but impossible “Bubbie” (a term of endearment for a Jewish grandmother). The book also vividly recounts the harrowing story of Bubbie’s amazing escape from Nazi clutches and the incredible lengths that a mother will go to save her children.
“Managing Bubbie” remembers the Holocaust – highlighting how the indomitable spirit of love, hope and humor can triumph over deep despair. Lazega writes:
“It was the last thing Bubbie said to me before I left for college: ‘I vant you should make a book from these tings telling what I did to bring mine children here to this country. A million dollars they’ll pay you for this book!’”
Going from the literary to technology, Shaposhnikov explained how DSX Labs helps solve issues faced by Internet tech start-ups, accelerators, incubators and small to large enterprise companies serving technology firms. “We offer advanced technology, affordable, shared space, access to mentors and investors as well as reduced development costs in exchange for equity,” he explained.
“DSX Labs is currently developing the core technology for start-ups utilizing social, video, api, file management, mobile and other cloud based or Saas technologies. We’re also extremely interested in the whole process of devising tech business models, creating pitch decks, MVPs (Minimum Viable Products) and raising seed capital. We invite established tech leaders to share their advice and guidance, supporting the goal of DSX Labs to create sustainable tech business.”
