For the sixth year, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Sally A. Heyman, District 4, has joined the National Foundation of Women Legislators and the Office Depot Foundation in distributing hundreds of back-to-school backpacks to children living in District 4.
Over 300 children attending local public and private elementary schools will receive these packs that contain essential school supplies including a pen, pencil, eraser, ruler, pencil sharpener, notebook and pencil case.
“Each year I look forward to providing some of the children in my district with these essential supplies prior to the beginning of the school year,” said Commissioner Heyman. I hope this in some way assists the students to be more successful inside the classroom.”
Commissioner Heyman and her staff distributed these backpacks to schools in District 4 prior to the beginning of the school year. Recipients were selected through a raffle Commissioner Heyman held for each school.
