The Biscayne Bay Campus at Florida International University serves a student body of more than 7,000 and is home to several award-winning schools and colleges. It joins the other FIU campuses in graduating over 10,000 students per year, fueling the South Florida community’s workforce.
Many of the jobs taken by these students come out of FIU’s signature Career Fairs.
“We will have more than 70 employers and recruiters at our September career fair, with hundreds of students and alumni attending the fair,” said Fernando Figueredo, director of Career Services. “Employers like Northwestern Mutual, Trump International and WSVN-7, among others, continually come back to FIU to recruit as our students prove to be excellent new employees.”
As a top ten employer in South Florida, FIU takes its Career Fairs seriously, with several workshops for students and alumni on resumes, elevator pitches and attire taking place in the weeks leading up to the big event. Attendees must bring several copies of their resume and wear business attire to be admitted into the fair.
With over 200 degree programs ranging from undergraduate to doctoral, FIU has a wide array of qualified students fit for multiple industries. Employers attending the Career Fair comprise public and private industry, educational and non-profit organizations, local and federal government, law enforcement and military among others.
“FIU students not only get the best education in South Florida, but many serve in internship roles prior to graduating, giving them the upper hand in gaining real-world experience in their field,” Figueredo said. “We design our Career Fairs to serve the needs of both employers and our students, creating opportunities to support and grow our economy.”
The Fall Career Fair hosted exclusively for FIU students and alumni, will occur on Wednesday, September 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Biscayne Bay Campus, located at 3000 NE 151 Street, North Miami.
