Florida International University’s Biscayne Bay Campus: Homecoming Week (Oct. 17-21)

Florida International University’s Biscayne Bay Campus: Homecoming Week (Oct. 17-21)

The Homecoming Council at Florida International University’s Biscayne Bay Campus (BBC) teamed up with several on-campus partners to give FIU students an unforgettable week filled with exciting events leading up to the highly anticipated homecoming game.

Homecoming week at BBC kicked off on Monday with the Blue and Gold Unleashed: Homecoming Opening Pep Rally, where members of the FIU football team and the FIU Dazzlers cheerleaders came to our beautiful campus to get the students hyped for the big game and lead the Trail of the Torch ceremony.

Homecoming continued on Tuesday with Caribbean Bash. Students were invited to this Caribbean-themed dance and were encouraged to represent their country and bring their country’s flag, while also enjoying live performances and music from around the world.

FIU celebrated the birthday of its beloved mascot Roary on Wednesday at the Roary’s Birthday Extravaganza event featuring guest appearances by Miami Marlins’ mascot Billy the Marlin and Florida Panthers hockey team mascot Stanley C. However the best was saved for last as Roary made his grand entrance and received a panther pride rendition of happy birthday.

On Thursday it was time for the Black Student Union (BSU) Spirit and Soul Homecoming BBQ where students received cool BSU giveaways like t-shirts and hats and got to participate in a t-shirt design contest.

On Friday Homecoming Week at BBC had a happily ever after ending at the LXV Lounge Homecoming Dance. Students came dressed to impress and enjoyed a fashion show and danced the night away with music by DJ Hercules.

Although our team did not win the big game, we hope the students had fun cheering them on and enjoyed all of the amazing festivities the Biscayne Bay Campus had to offer.
