Hotwire Communications leadership is hyper-involved in the communityWhen Joe Ferst was promoted to Hotwire Communication’s Senior Vice President of all regional operations in Broward County, he was determined to maintain his deep connection to the City of Aventura, the community, and its people. In his former role as VP of Sales in Miami-Dade, Joe relocated his family from Palm Beach County to a more southern spot in the South Florida area and dove right in, representing Hotwire on the Aventura Marketing Council/Chamber of Commerce first and foremost.

After the pandemic, Ferst hosted his own web-based seminars and community meetings to ensure constant communications and information from a safe distance.

But his involvement didn’t stop there. “We are proud to be the technology partners of ACES (Aventura City of Excellence Schooll) and the Don Soffer Aventura High School and Charter Schools USA, and that partnership means much more than just providing critical broadband services.” Joe led the Hotwire team that setup a quick turnaround Covid-19 relief site at the high school. And when the city had to reorganize school property to enable the required 6 feet of social distance between students at the school, the Hotwire Communications team installed separate internet connections in the gymnasium to expand the areas in which the students could access broadband. “Once we service a community or property, we are fully engaged as partners in ensuring their success. Our technology is key and so is our white glove service,” says Ferst.

Hotwire’s reach in the City of Aventura keeps expanding, with recent additions of their footprint including the Aventura Mall, JW Marriott Turnberry Resort, several condominium and homeowner associations, as well as the local Chabad, the New Hilton Aventura and Aventura’s new Medical District.

This expansion is nothing new to Joe Ferst. The technology leader has been responsible for helping Hotwire Communications grow its penetration and market-share in Miami Dade and Broward County since joining the company several years ago. Some of his most prominent acquisitions include municipal contracts in Miami Beach, Dania Beach, and a much publicized 10 Gigabit symmetrical connection to the BB&T (now TRUIST) Center, the 872,000 sq.ft.  home of the Florida Panthers and host to many headline- making concerts.

But for Joe, the secret sauce is more about the customer relationship than the initial acquisition.

“Educating potential clients so they better understand the technologies and their benefits is something I commit to doing whether or not they end up signing with us, or whether or not they are even in the process of obtaining a new telecommunications provider,“We are and will continue to be a part of a community, in partnership with our customers and the cities in which they are located, and this is how I train my team to approach the job of sales.”

This connecting, educating and the sense of gratitude he has for every opportunity to serve a community comes naturally to Joe. If you are meeting him for the first time to discuss potential technology solutions, you might find yourself engaged in friendly banter about boating, music, football and camping, just some of the hobbies Joe enjoys in his time off.

Of course, he shares these passions with his young family of three with wife Amanda, photos of whom his Hotwire co-workers will often ask to see. “His kids have inherited his giant smile” said co-worker Karla Thatcher, VP of Corporate Communication. “Around here we look forward to the next chapter in the lives of Joe and what we call The FERST (First) Family”.
