The Miami Dolphins have been making waves in the AFC east in recent years, and they are looking to take their game to the next level with their latest acquisition. After finishing the 2022 season with a 9-8 record and coming close to beating the Buffalo Bills with an injury riddled roster, the Dolphins have added a six-time Pro Bowler and former Super Bowl champion to their defense in the form of Jalen Ramsey.
Ramsey is widely considered one of the best cornerbacks in the league, and his addition to the Dolphins’ defense is expected to have a significant impact on their performance on the field. Last season, the Dolphins’ had a prolific offense, but their defense was mediocre at times as they ranked 26th in passing yards allowed. With Ramsey in the mix, they now have a much stronger defense to complement their powerhouse offense.
Ramsey will be teaming up with Xavien Howard, Jaelan Phillips, and Christian Wilkins on the d-line, which is sure to give the Dolphins a formidable defense. Howard has already established himself as one of the top cornerbacks in the league, and with Ramsey by his side, they will be a force to be reckoned with. Meanwhile, Philips and Wilkins are both young players with a lot of potential, and their development will be further boosted by playing alongside Ramsey.
Most importantly, the Dolphins didn’t have to give up much to acquire Ramsey, as they only traded a 2023 third-round pick (No. 77) and tight end Hunter Long for the star player. Considering the impact that Ramsey is expected to have on the team, this looks like a steal for the Dolphins.
Ramsey’s contract is quite lucrative, as he is set to make $25.2M this coming season, as well as $26.7M the following year. He’s also owed $22.7M in 2025, the final year of his extension. However, given his track record and the impact he is expected to have on the team, this is a price that the Dolphins are willing to pay.
Overall, the addition of Jalen Ramsey to the Miami Dolphins is a significant move that is sure to improve their play on the field. With a strong defense to complement their already potent offense, the Dolphins will be a team to watch again in the upcoming season.
