Jeanette Fine, who was instrumental in leading the fundraising efforts to build the Humane Society of Greater Miami’s stateof- the-art Soffer and Fine Adoption Center, is one of the winners of the Positive Living Award. Jeanette, who is a North Miami resident, won this award, given to deserving individuals by the Alliance for Aging, in the category of Animal/Wildlife. The award is given to an individual who has given outstanding assistance to, or involvement with, efforts to improve the lives of animals or wild life.

Donna Tallon, Executive Director of the Humane Society of Greater Miami, says, “We are so proud of Jeanette. She certainly deserves this award. Jeanette has always had a soft spot in her heart for the homeless and abandoned dogs and cats in our community.”

Jeanette devotes most of her time serving as a member of the Board of Directors at the Humane Society of Greater Miami. Her “pet” project is the Second Chance Fund, which provides resources for medical care; such as complex surgeries, specialized lab work and analysis and much needed medication for shelter pets in need. She also founded the Auxiliary committee, PALs, Pets are Love, which has been instrumental in raising money, volunteering time for events, and helping the organization achieve its mission.

The alliance for Aging is a private, notfor- profit organization committed to improving the lives of older people through funding more than $60 million annually to local agencies.
