The Aventura/North Miami Dade chapter of JAFCO is hosting its 6th annual Chanukah Miracles Luncheon at the Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center to help the children of JAFCO enjoy Chanukah. This year’s luncheon takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 17, and is chaired by Alexandra Bergman. The event will feature a shopping boutique, silent auction, exclusive raffle of jewelry provided by Philips Frankel, a Candle of Hope ceremony and a Godparent pinning ceremony.
The JAFCO Godparent circle is comprised of a generous group of donors who spiritually adopt all of the JAFCO children. Godparents provide safety and security for the children by making a 10-year pledge of $18,000, which helps support the needs of the children, including food, shelter, clothing, education and therapy.
During the luncheon, Aventura/North Miami Chapter Founding President Miri Mazor will be honored for her tireless efforts and years of hard work for JAFCO. “I remember when a mere 50 people came to this luncheon,” said Mazor. “And last year, we had a record breaking 400 guests and raised more than $100,000 for the children.”
Guests are asked to bring gift cards from Target, Walmart, Toys R Us, Best Buy and/or Sports Authority. These gift cards will help fulfill the wishes of the 500 children JAFCO serves in their group home, emergency shelter, family preservation and developmental disability programs.
“It’s amazing to see such an outpouring of love from the community,” said Sarah Franco, JAFCO executive director. “The Aventura/North Miami chapter has grown exponentially and as a result, we are able to see smiles on the faces of these precious children during the holidays. That is a priceless gift.”
Luncheon tickets are $118 per person. Many levels of sponsorship opportunities are available.
