Nearly 60 poker players signed up for the Texas Hold’em tournament at Mardi Gras Casino to represent their chosen Aventura Marketing Council Charity

Mardi Gras Casino in Hallandale Beach recently hosted lucky Aventura Marketing Council members for a “Texas Hold’em Charity Poker Tournament” raising over $7,000 for AMC member charities and non-profit organizations including:

Academy of Hospitality and Tourism; Arts Ballet Theatre; Aventura City of Excellence School; Aventura/North Miami Beach Lions Club; AYUDA, Inc.; Bnai Zion Foundation; Humane Society of Greater Miami; “I Have a Dream” Foundation Miami; International Association of Jewish Public Safety Employees; Junior Achievement; Miami Jewish Health Systems; National MS Society; Rotary Club of Hallandale Beach/Aventura; South Florida Shomrim Society; Sunshine Kids; and the Victory Center for Autism & Behavioral Challenges.

Committee chair Michael Yavner of BNY Mellon Wealth Management along with Marcia Slow-Sandler, Mardi Gras Casino’s Director of Community Relations, and Jaci Marx, Director of Marketing, helped welcome a full house turnout of guests invited to “hit the jackpot” for giving back and building business while discovering Mardi Gras Casino’s “heartpounding slots, historic greyhound racing and the best poker room in the state.”

Almost 60 players signed up to play in the Texas Hold’em tournament – and the biggest winners were: 1st place prize-$1,000: Jared Slansky, Wells Fargo Advisors; 2nd place prize-stay at Double Tree Ocean Point Resort & Spa: Sonny Levitt, Riverside- Gordon Memorial Chapels; 3rd place prize-stay at Crowne Plaza Hollywood Beach: Claudio Stivelman, Shefaor Development; 4th place prize-stay at Crowne Plaza: Charlie Oberlender; 5th place prize-$100 gift certificate to Ocean Prime: Jason Greenberg; 6th place prize-Chef Allen’s Reality Cooking Class: Michael Barr.

During the event, AMC members confirmed Mardi Gras Casino isn’t bluffing when they say: “We’ve got the hottest slots in Florida!” featuring the widest variety of thrilling slot machines in all denominations (over 1,100 Vegas-style slots have been added to the totally renovated first floor); virtual black jack; the biggest progressive penny slot room in the state; and a $20 High Limit Room complete with a VIP lounge.

Everyone also agreed they played their cards right by coming to the charity tournament when they laid eyes on “The Big Easy Poker Room” – heralded as the best poker room in South Florida, where you can experience the thrill of 30 action-packed poker tables featuring favorite poker games and limits.

Party planners also looked forward to holding festive holiday functions, meetings, banquets, fundraisers and all sorts of catered events at Mardi Gras Casino, where it really is “always a party.” The exciting atmosphere is even more supercharged by high-energy events — from Vegas-style showgirls and live entertainment — to renowned South Florida DJs.

Before the charity poker tournament was over, AMC members congratulated each other for raising even more than anticipated for charities– and for registering for the Mardi Gras Casino Florida Players Club offering exclusive free rewards, free dining, VIP invitations to parties and events plus much more.

Friends and colleagues also made plans to come back soon for daily Happy Hour and dinner specials at Mardi Gras Casino’s French Quarter Restaurant and Bar overlooking the manicured racetrack and entire Gold Coast skyline. And sports fans were happy to hear the Dawg House Sports Bar is now open boasting dozens of large, flat screen TVs playing top sporting events.
