The City of North Miami’s Mayor Philippe Bien-Aime and Councilman Alix Desulme, Ed.D., have partnered with The Carma Foundation and Naked Taco to host a free Food Distribution event. The event will be held on Saturday, June 12th, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Sunkist Grove Community Center located at 12500 N.W. 13th Avenue, North Miami, FL 33167.
In an effort to support local families, Mayor Philippe Bien-Aime and Councilman Alix Desulme, Ed.D. will collaborate with Chef Ralph Pagano from the Naked Taco and Melky Jean, founder of the Carma Foundation, at the NoMi Food Pantry to provide much needed grocery items to residents. In 2019, the City of North Miami became the home of the first government-sponsored food pantry housed within a municipality through Feeding South Florida® and the Florida Blue Foundation. The NoMi Food Pantry serves as a place where residents are able to receive free access to fruits, vegetables, protein, dairy and shelf-stable items.
“We are incredibly grateful to welcome Melky Jean and Chef Ralph Pagano to our NoMi Food Pantry at the Sunkist Grove Community Center. We understand that the pandemic is still impacting local families so we want to make sure they have adequate access to food. We hope to continue working with Melky and Chef Ralph Pagano on future community initiaves” stated Councilman Alix Desulme, Ed. D.
Residents must pre-register by contacting the North Miami Housing & Social Services Department at 305-895-9895 (select option 2). To learn about the NoMi Food Pantry, visit www.NoMiCares.org.
