Memorial Healthcare System appoints Miceli to Senior Vice President of Managed Care

Memorial Healthcare System, the thirdlargest public health care system in the nation and highly regarded for its exceptional patient- and family-centered care, has promoted Marilyn Miceli to Senior Vice President of Managed Care. Under her the new role, Miceli will lead the managed care compliance, contracting and the operations division and will foster system collaboration with health plans and other constituents to promote growth and quality initiatives and enhance customer satisfaction. She currently oversees the contracting of more than $1.2 billion in managed care revenue and over $100 million in compliance recoveries annually.

Miceli joined Memorial Healthcare System in 1997 to lead the Managed Care Division and Memorial’s Health Plan Operations, including the Medicaid Plan and Self- Funded Employee Health Plan. Prior to joining Memorial, she held a regional position with HCA/Columbia in South Florida and was responsible for contract negotiations for 13 facilities. She also served as Executive Director of MetLife Health Plans in Kansas City, Missouri, responsible for all health plan operations and also held a Regional Director position with MetLife Corporate Offices in St. Louis, MO. She traveled nationally as an integral part of the Corporate Development Team to create start-up operations in major cities in the U.S. for MetLife. Her role served to created national policies and procedures for MetLife, which were later implemented in local network offices. She also was responsible for ensuring compliance of corporate goals, objectives, policies and procedures.

Miceli holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Management fromWebster University and a Master Degree in Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University. She has served on the Board Committee for Florida Hospital Association, as well as its Legislative Committee. She is a mentor in the Mentorship Program for Future Leaders for Memorial Healthcare System and participates in annual fundraising for Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital and Broward Partnership for the Homeless Annual Fundraising event.

Memorial Healthcare System, also known as the South Broward Hospital District, is one of the largest public healthcare systems in the United States and has served South Florida since 1953. The system has six hospitals, 11,000 employees, 1,700 physicians on staff and more than 150 employed physicians, who compose the Memorial Physician Group.
