David Smith, former Chief Financial Officer of Memorial Regional Hospital, has been promoted to Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Memorial Healthcare System.
Smith, who has served as Memorial Regional Hospital’s finance officer since 1998, now will be responsible for an annual operating budget of 1.6 billion and will oversee finances for Memorial’s five hospitals, nursing home and home health agency, and South Broward Community Health Services, Memorial’s network of area clinics and programs.
Prior to joining Memorial, Smith served as chief financial officer for Kendall Medical Center in Miami and as administrator of financial services for Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. He was senior manager in the audit division of Ernst & Young before turning his career toward healthcare.
Smith holds a master’s of business administration degree and a bachelor’s of science degree from the University of Florida, and is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives as well as the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
