An exciting change has taken place for the legendary Ms. Senior Florida Pageant! The name has changed but the focus on empowering and encouraging seniors has not changed. With the new name of Eterna, Inc., CEO Rose Tydus, is now expanding the opportunities to reach many more seniors to bring about statewide awareness of the organization and increasing benefits to the participants.
When Tydus took over the for-profit Ms. Senior Florida Pageant in 2016, after winning the crown of Ms. Senior Florida that year, she realized that there was so much more that could be done for and with the seniors using the pageant as a stepping stone. She first created it as a not-for-profit organization, and in 2017, held the pageant at the Julius Littman Theatre in North Miami Beach to a full-house audience. This year’s pageant will be held virtually on Sunday, August 21st at 3pm on the Ms. Senior Florida Youtube Channel. Entrants must be at least 60 years old and must express their lifestyle through evening gown presentation, talent, philosophy of life and an interview with the judges.
“One of the new outreaches of Eterna, Inc. is our lecture series, “The M & M’s of Aging Gracefully” where we talk about Meditate (art and benefits of positive thinking) , Motivate (putting meditation into action) , Marinate (health and nutrition; less stress and more rest) and Movement (exercise)… four exceptionally important topics for everyone, especially seniors,” said Tydus. “In addition, we have created The Nana Project, ‘Never Abandoned – Never Alone”, a senior mentoring project to give underprivileged children a grandmother image and experience.”
