Lauded South Florida Provider For Jewish Seniors Now Serving Miami-Dade County
Having served Broward and Palm Beach counties since 1998, the owners of United Elder Care Services are now licensed by the state of Florida to provide home care for Miami-Dade County’s senior population. The company will operate under the name Miami Jewish Home Care, LLC.
“It is a natural progression to fill a much needed service,” said United Elder Care Services Co-Owner Lisa Bensmihen. “We have an expert team to fulfill the needs of Jewish seniors of the Tri County. We are new to Miami Dade but we are not new to homecare.”
United Elder Care Services, based in Boca Raton, has on average taken care of 500 seniors a year in Palm Beach and Broward counties.
The company provides background checked and trained individuals for private duty needs related to personal hygiene, as well as accompanying on chores, monitoring of medication, nutrition and exercise.
While the company provides services to residents of all backgrounds and religions, it has specialized in having individuals trained and sensitive to Jewish customs, from keeping a kosher home to respecting the Sabbath to accompanying an individual to religious services.
“Our belief in respecting and meeting the special needs of the Jewish community and its seniors has been recognized by such institutions as Yeshiva University, the Orthodox Union and AIPAC,” said Joseph Bensmihen, CEO and co-owner of Miami Jewish Home Care.
Miami Jewish Home Care will provide the type of relief families count on in caring for their elder parents and grandparents. In some cases, families need short breaks in taking care of a loved one, Benmsihen said. In other instances, seniors independently living do not have family in the area to look after them.
“That is where Miami Jewish Home Care steps in. We can provide respite time for the primary caregiver. We can provide companionship to a senior who might otherwise fall victim to loneliness or depression. We can even provide accompanying to shul (synagogue),” Bensmihen said. “Our team of skilled and background checked individuals assist our seniors with fall prevention exercises, provide compassion for those healing from an injury, and transportation to their physicians. It is wonderful service to those who wish to pay privately or through insurance.”
Miami Jewish Home Care, LLC is licensed to serve all of Miami-Dade but is expecting to focus on Miami Beach and the other coastal communities up to Broward County including North Miami Beach, Aventura, Sunny Isles and Golden Beach.
