OneUnited Bank, the only Black bank in Florida and the nation’s largest Black owned bank, is proud to present a Free Community Food Giveaway on Saturday April 13, 2024, 10:00am until supplies last, at OneUnited Bank, 3275 N.W. 79th Street, Miami, FL 33147, in collaboration with the Joshua’s Heart Foundation (JHF), a not-for-profit, youth run organization dedicated to the fight against global hunger and poverty on a global level. OneUnited Bank will also promote its I Got Bank Youth Financial Literacy Contest for children at the event.
Despite gains in the economy since the global pandemic, many Miami families still suffer from food insecurity. OneUnited Bank, in the spirit of its 2024 “Banking on Love & Unity” mission, has ensured that participating families will receive a week’s worth of fresh groceries, as well as personal care items. Each family will also receive a free Black Panther comic book that promotes financial literacy.
Teri Williams, OneUnited Bank President & COO, expresses, “We are honored to partner with Joshua’s Heart Foundation, an amazing organization founded in Miami with a vision focused solely on stomping out world hunger. We are also excited to promote financial literacy for children during this event in honor of National Financial Literacy Month!”
“Joshua’s Heart Foundation is honored to team with our community partners, OneUnited Bank, to distribute food to needy Miami families. My son, Joshua, who founded Joshua’s Heart Foundation when he was only four, set into motion a grand vision to eradicate hunger for all, all over the globe. These opportunities to reach into our neighborhoods and help so many deserving families are pivotal to achieving Joshua’s mission”, commented Claudia McLean, Executive Director of JHF.
This is a walk up only event and families are encouraged to bring their own bags.
