Power of the Heels Foundation features women who “dare to go beyond”Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much…Hellen Keller

March is Women’s History Month, and the Power of the Heels Foundation is launching a series of events dedicated to women who “dare to go beyond”. The first event, “Women Who Dared to go Beyond the Unexpected”, is presented by Israel Bonds, powered by EffecTV, a Comcast Company; empowered by Women’s Choice Awards, together with South Florida PBS and Miami’s Community Newspapers as media partners. This virtual program is scheduled for Thursday, March 18th from 10 – 11 am featuring Loni Paige, an events planner who was involved with the Fyre Festival, billed as a luxury music experience on a posh private island in the Bahamas, but failed spectacularly in the hands of the entrepreneur, Billy McFarland, who left hundreds of people in his wake, conning investors, getting free labor, and ultimately going to jail for his crimes. Loni’s story is part of a Netflix documentary and she will share her inside story about that experience.

Honored at the event will be Shelly Tygielski, a CNN HERO, who started Pandemic of Love on March 14, 2020, at the onset of the COVID-19 crisis with a simple post on social media: one said “Get Help” and the other said “Give Help”. It was done with no further ambition than helping friends and neighbors in her own South Florida community. Since that date, Pandemic of Love has grown from one person willing to help to a team of nearly 1,200 volunteers around the world.

The March 18th program is also supported by Women’s International Zionist Organization; Vital Voices Miami; WINK; Miel; 360 Extraordinary Women; Happiher; Club Ellas; Organization of Women in Trade; Connecting Leaders; Greater North Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce; Women’s Council of Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce; Believe in Kindness; Aventura Marketing Council/Chamber of Commerce; and Pandemic of Love.

Future programs will celebrate women who have faced unexpected situations, and moved beyond them with great success. This past year has been filled with ‘unexpected situations’ for everyone, and these women’s stories can offer valuable lessons and guidance as we continue to face these challenges with resilience and defiance.
