From Italy and Japan – to New York, Washington, Art-Basel Miami and now Sher Galleries in Aventura. An exhibition of masterpiece works by internationally-renowned sculptor Esther Wertheimer was recently showcased during an exclusive Aventura Marketing Council networking reception hosted by Sher Galleries in the Waterways Shoppes.

Bruce and Laura Sher welcomed AMC business and community leaders to the gallery for the special event, giving guests an opportunity to personally meet Wertheimer, whose passion for dance, family, and love are expressed through her magnificent bronze sculptures.

While enjoying complimentary wine and music by Joel Odierno, guests learned more about Wertheimer’s illustrious career and numerous honors. In 2009, she won the prestigious “Gold Medal of Lorenzo il Magnifico” when participating in Italy’s Florence Bienale. Wertheimer’s sculpture “Madre Gambe Incrociate” also won Best in Show at the “100% Pure Florida” exhibition held at the Fifth Avenue Art Gallery in Melbourne, Florida. She was selected “Artist of the Month” by Artists Registry; and a feature article about her colored bronze sculptures appeared in Palm Beach Illustrated magazine.

At Sher Galleries, Wertheimer’s award winning, colored bronze sculptures capturing poetic gestures and expressive forms captivated AMC members. The sculptures are critically acclaimed for being: “Symbolic of her love of the figure and exceptional gift for using graceful elongations to capture the rhythmic beauty of the human spirit. Her work is at once sensitively delicate and vigorously intense. Life and energy flow from extended limbs and cascading draperies.

There is a deep-rooted joy forming the essence of each work – the joy of living.”

AMC art aficionados agreed Wertheimer’s creations show great sensitivity to line and space, earning accolades such as: “Her work forges a connection between bodies and souls, blurring the line between our physical and spiritual beings. Dancers are captured in dynamic weightlessness, their forms generating a language of visual poetry. Mothers hold their children in the air with confidence and delight.”

AMC jetsetters contemplated using their frequent flyer miles to see Wertheimer’s 13-foot “Primavera” sculpture installed in front of Japan’s Fukuoka City Hall – or her magnificent “Paulo and Francesca” sculpture in Texas dedicated to the Dallas Ballet Company.

More regional excursions were planned to view Wertheimer’s competition- winning, nine-foot “Seven Dancers” sculpture now at Northwest Florida State College; and her 23-foot Water Babies sculpture at the Royal Palm Plaza in Boca Raton. Wertheimer currently works out of her studios in Boca Raton as well as Montreal, Canada where she grew up, studied at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and then went on to study in Italy.

During the networking reception, AMC members also shared rave reviews for Sher Galleries’ impressive collection of artwork by a variety of international contemporary artists. Established in 1970, Sher Galleries is an authorized gallery meeting the highest standards of quality in terms of sales and service. Beyond supplying certificates of authenticity, Sher Galleries has highly-specialized knowledge of all exhibited artwork and artists.

Before the evening was over, Sharon King of State Farm and Bob Cahn of AFLAC won original lithograph prints of a sketch depicting Wertheimer’s Paolo & Francesca bronze sculpture featured on Sher Galleries’ invitation…and everyone looked forward to being invited to build business again at upcoming Aventura Marketing Council networking events.
